Artisan Made UK (AMUK) began showcasing exceptional craft making talent from around the country in 2023. I will be returning to this trade event in 2026
Based in North Yorkshire, Artisan Made UK takes place at Skipton Auction Mart and is run by the organisers of the long standing and well regarded Art in the Pen and Crafts in the Pen.
Spring Art Fair
The famous Hearth Spring Art Fair and Open Studios is back this year with an impressive line up of artists and makers. The resident artists will all open their studios for the weekend with new displays of their latest work. There will be several guest artists in the hall, courtyard and our new "hub", all ready to welcome you with a wide range of art and craft handmade here in the North East.
Donna will be bringing a range of original textile art, giclée prints and greetings cards to the Art Fair.
Free Motion Embroidery - 3 week course
The course will run on three Wednesday mornings in May, starting on 6th and continuing on the 13th and 20th.
In this course you will learn how to adapt a domestic sewing machine so that you can do free motion embroidery. You will learn how to balance stitch speed with hand control in order to stitch smoothly in all directions. You will create a sample book full of your experiments with FME, including appliqué, lettering, drawing, using soluble and bonded fabrics, and creating texture with top and bottom threads. You will gain confidence in using your sewing machine for Free Motion Embroidery and in developing textile art ideas.
Spring Landscape Workshop
In this one day workshop Donna will guide you through the making of a stitched landscape. You will be provided with all the materials that you need for the workshop and sewing machines are provided - although you can bring your own - just call and let the gallery know.
Donna will provide designs for you to work from and will show you step by step how to create a Spring landscape using hand dyed fabrics and free machine embroidery.
Abstract Textiles
We will start the day with paint and collage, exploring ways to create abstract compositions that we will then interpret in fabric and stitch.
Donna will provide all materials and equipment for this workshop. You might want to bring a painting shirt or apron to protect your clothes!
Donna is a skilled workshop leader and will encourage you to experiment in this workshop as you explore ways to make exciting abstract textiles.
