Donna Cheshire is a textile artist based in North East England

Donna works with hand dyed fabrics and free motion embroidery in response to landscape. She walks in and records the landscapes, using sketchbooks to make notes and drawings. Using these resources she creates work in textiles, specialising in free motion embroidery and hand dyed fabrics. Donna wants to capture the sense of being in these beautiful places. The natural landscape is vital to her, she lives in the city but takes time each week to walk through green or coastal environments, appreciating the colours, textures and sounds around her.

Recording these walks in textiles is her way of treasuring the landscape.

Donna studied textile design to Masters level and as a qualified teacher worked for many years teaching Art & Design to post 16 students. She offers talks, workshops and demonstrations to groups and individuals.

Donna’s work is exhibited in galleries around Britain.
